To apply expert-level technical skills in the design, development, deployment and configuration of Mobile subscriber management platforms for 3G, 4G and 5G ((including CUDB, HLR-FE, HSS-FE, UDR, UDM and EDA/ provisioning mediation) with a high understanding of Wireless Core Network. A key part of this role will be to lead change and new ways of working with cross domains, planners, incident management operations and technology teams. A positive “can do” attitude to lead and work collaboratively with the team and be a highly effective team player. A solid understanding of automation and scripting (such as

Python and Ansible) will be highly advantageous as they will be a key part of developing the Core Control platforms. Candidates should also be able to lead and drive DevOps practices with a major focus on Network Security & Resiliency.

Essential Skills

Qualification in Engineering in the Mobile Telco or related discipline.

  • Good working knowledge in Devops model, ITIL, TDP, Agile and Project Management.
  • Urge to learn new technologies with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • At least 3-5+ years professional experience in Telecommunications
  • Understanding of Virtualised environments
  • Strong programming skills in Ansible and/or Python for the development of automation.
  • Experience implementing and driving change in large organisations and coaching impacted teams.
  • Ability to work with key vendors in a collaborative and co-operative manner.
  • Ability to navigate through and influence internal and external

stakeholders to build relationships and leverage them to drive outcomes.

  • Excellent active listening skills and high emotional intelligence

Measurable Deliverables and desired outcomes

· Ability to lead UDC projects, but also work independently and collaboratively with teams.

· Demonstrated end to end accountability and delivery of quality engineering solutions in relation to detailed design, testing,

integration, and deployment.

· Troubleshooting complex incidents and lead incident management teams.

· Documentation as required; SAD, LLD, HLD, MOP, Jira tickets and Confluence pages.

· Provide support and knowledge sharing with the project team and other teams.

· Available after hours to deploy changes and support recalls if required.

· Challenge the current ways of working and identify functions that can be automated.

· Work closely with vendors and lead the design and architectural decisions for fixes and understanding the risks.

· Be able to work independently on virtualised environments and perform an expert degree of design and testing for applications.

Key Responsibilities, Accountability Metrics, Decision Rights

Key Responsibilities

  • Have subject matter expertise within the UDC environments and other Wireless Core domains.
  • Excellent understanding of Wireless Core Network architecture and interfaces.
  • Advanced knowledge of various network protocols.
  • Troubleshooting and monitoring mobile networks using tools like Moonshot, IRIS, Wireshark and Splunk.
  • Ownership of the design, architecture, preparation and deployment of platform configuration data on the UDC platforms.
  • Production operational ownership, providing technical direction and problem solving.
  • Work closely with Incident Management Operation (IMO) to resolve escalated incidents and being highly customer focused.
  • Challenge and change the current ways of working and develop solutions that use the latest available industry tools and work practices, eg Ansible

for Automation.

  • Work closely with UDC vendor to enhance, lifecycle and road map the platform, raise issues, test and deploy fixes into the production

environment.

  • Detailed knowledge of NFVi SDN and VNF, Wireless applications such as SAPC, EPG, MME and DSC and the provisioning systems will be an

advantage.

  • Lead the development of supportive scripts to validate or interrogate network elements.
  • Validating and producing SAD, LLD, HLD & MOPs.
  • Ownership of growth forecasts and lifecycle management.
  • Continuously drive down the rate of problem recurrence.
  • Lead the development of innovative customer centric performance monitoring solutions utilising existing tools.

Key Accountability Metrics

  • Maintain the highest level of design and architecture standards for UDC Platforms.
  • Lead in Agile and DevOps model to support and work in UDC missions.
  • Ensure compliance with Operational policy and procedure around the ITIL functions of incident management, problem management and, change and

release management.

  • Maintain the platforms and/or applications for maximum availability and performance using the appropriate processes as a basis for a stable and

carefully managed environment.

  • Own and champion the development and implementation of complex solution.

Key Decision Rights

  • Make architectural and design decisions in relation to the UDC.
  • Assess and address the solution impacts and changes to architecture.
  • Maintain high levels of engage with products and cross domains to make design decisions.
  • Ability to perform interoperability testing and validate the test results to make decisions.
  • Tool decision for automation of routines and backups.
  • Complex fault resolution and making and owning the right decisions during Major Incident Management (MIM) for high and critical severity incidents.

Contract length: 6 months

Salary: $650.00 – $750.00 per day
